Plants vs Zombies Fusion: Who Makes It, How Fusion Works and How to Download It Safely

Fusion takes the 2009 tower-defence game and adds one big idea: stack plants to make new ones. Plant a Peashooter on a Sunflower and you get a Sunshooter, which makes sun and shoots at the same time. The community wiki counts 553 fusions built on that one rule.

We checked the creator’s Bilibili profile, GamerSky’s coverage and the two main community wikis on 6 November 2026. Each version number below says where it comes from, because download sites post conflicting ones. For the safety steps, jump to the download checklist.

Who makes Plants vs Zombies Fusion?

Plants vs Zombies Fusion is made by a Chinese Bilibili creator who posts as 蓝飘飘fly, usually written LanPiaoPiao or Blue Fly in English. Its Chinese name is 植物大战僵尸融合版. It’s a fan project: PopCap made the original game, EA publishes the series, and neither company makes Fusion.

Chinese gaming site GamerSky reported the 1.0 preview on 30 June 2024. Its credits list 蓝飘飘fly for programming, lead design and animation, 机鱼吐司 for art and 射命丸文 for help with animation. According to the English community wiki, work on the game started in the Unity engine on 8 May 2024.

We checked the creator’s Bilibili profile on 6 November 2026. It showed 2,156,729 followers and a one-line bio saying the game link is in the pinned post and that updates will continue. A notice on the Bilibili-hosted community wiki says that pinned post is the only download channel the team authorises.

What’s the latest version of PvZ Fusion, and is it still updated?

The PC version is still being updated, with a new release roughly once a month since June 2026. The table shows recent versions and who reported each one. We couldn’t open the creator’s own update posts, because Bilibili showed a verification page, so 4.1 rests on the wiki alone.

The phone version is a different story. GamerSky reported on 1 October 2026 that the mobile build got 4.0.5 at the same time as PC. The Bilibili wiki now carries a notice that, for reasons outside the team’s control, the project won’t update the mobile version, and it asks people not to promote it. The notice has no date.

Our advice: treat any “PvZ Fusion 4.1 APK” with suspicion. If the team has stopped mobile updates, a newer phone build didn’t come from them.

How does fusion work?

You fuse plants by planting a compatible plant on top of one already on the lawn. The two merge into a new plant that keeps both abilities or gains a new one. The PvZ: Fusion Wiki sorts its 553 fusions (as of version 4.1) into six types:

• Common: two base plants. These are the ones you’ll meet first.
• Upgraded: a common fusion combined again, or a plant combined with a zombie item.
• Advanced: three base plants, unlocked by clearing a Fusion Challenge.
• Titan: three base plants in a set pattern plus a Jicamagicker. Titans take up two tiles.
• Odyssey: high-level fusions made with the Glove, only in Odyssey modes.
• Infusible: no recipe at all. Other fusions spawn them.

Here are five common fusions with the figures the wiki gives. We added up the card costs for each, and in all five the fused plant costs exactly what its two ingredients cost together.

Stats change between versions, and some wiki pages are marked as incomplete. Check the in-game almanac for the build you’re playing before you plan around a number.

Beginner strategy: what the published numbers suggest

These tips aren’t play-tested. They’re arithmetic on the wiki’s figures, so treat them as a starting point for your own runs.

1. Fuse your sun supply early. A Twin Sunflower gives the same 50 sun as two Sunflowers for the same 100 sun, but it uses one tile instead of two.
2. Use Sunshooters to save space. One tile does a Sunflower’s job and a light attacker’s job, for the 150 sun you’d pay for both cards anyway.
3. Put Cherry-nuts where zombies bunch up. It blocks like a Wall-nut, then blasts a 3x3 area for 1,800 damage when it falls, so the front line is where its 200 sun pays back.
4. Don’t fuse expensive plants on the first wave. Every fusion costs the full price of both cards, and a 250-sun Cherry-shooter can leave you short of sun when the next zombies arrive.
5. Recheck numbers after each update. The 4.0.5 and 4.1 notes both list balance changes, so a fusion that carried you last month can play differently now.

Is PvZ Fusion the same as PvZ Hybrid?

No. They’re two separate fan games by different Chinese creators, and both combine plants, which is why people mix them up.

TechNode’s June 2024 report on Hybrid Edition describes a Peashooter-Sunflower hybrid that makes sun and shoots, which is close to Fusion’s Sunshooter. The two games come from different teams and are downloaded separately.

If you’d rather play an official game, EA released Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, a remaster of the 2009 original, on 23 October 2025 for PC and consoles. It adds local co-op, so it works as a cheap night in for two. Our date ideas have more like that.

How do you download PvZ Fusion safely?

Start from the creator, never from a search result. Many sites copy the game’s name, post their own version numbers and wrap the files in their own installers. We don’t link to any of them.

1. Open the creator’s Bilibili profile and use the pinned post. The profile bio points there, and the Bilibili wiki says no other channel is authorised.
2. Don’t pay. The game is free, so a site asking for money, a subscription or a “premium” unlock isn’t selling the creator’s release.
3. Avoid builds sold with a built-in trainer, cheat tool or “mod menu”. Someone other than the creator has changed those files.
4. Be wary of any new phone build. Mobile updates have stopped, according to the wiki notice, so a newer APK didn’t come from the team.
5. Scan the download before you open it. Use security software that’s up to date and set to scan new files automatically.

The scanning step comes from the US Federal Trade Commission’s malware advice, which also says: “Don’t use unfamiliar websites to download free stuff like music, movies, shows, or games.” Free fan games are exactly what that warning covers, so the pinned post is worth the extra minute.

The creator releases the game in Chinese. English builds you’ll see online come from community translators, such as an unofficial English Android port on GitHub. Frequently asked questions

Is Plants vs Zombies Fusion official?

No. It’s a fan game made by Bilibili creator 蓝飘飘fly and a small team. PopCap made the original Plants vs. Zombies and EA publishes the series, but neither company makes or publishes Fusion. EA’s own remaster, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, came out in October 2025 and is a separate game.

Is PvZ Fusion free?
